O&E was a seminal work first exhibited at the New Generation Exhibition in 1964. It was placed for a long time in Manchester Square before being donated to the Trust in 1996.
The work employs figurative references to industrial structures, the historical and archaeological feel of the work establishes an ironic iconic theme, emphasised by the use of simple coloured surfaces.
Bryan Kneale says of his work -
“ I think all my work is about the problem of what one sees and what one knows and the attempt to fuse the two and in a special sense, disrupt them”
