The lead and titanium units are based upon the form of vertebrae. The elements of the sculpture are balanced and move with the movement of the wind. Zdenek was working as a teaching assistant in the Academy of Fine Art in Prague in the Czech Republic at the time of his residency and was selected in the previous year 1997.
The sculpture was originally presented to the Trust as a maquette for construction in lead and brass. Zdenek, who comes from a family of surgeons and doctors, being unhappy with the degree of accuracy with which the brass parts were being manufactured changed the material to titanium. And found an alternative manufacturer in Prague.
